In Home Counseling

At Sopsyched we also offer In home counseling as one of our innovative services created out of the necessity to address the needs of the way we live today. We bring the best and creative clinical minds to your home where you feel most comfortable, whether it be individual, couples or family therapies.

Our In-home counseling services are convenient, private and a good investment for a better Mental Health. One of the main reasons many people do not make the necessary commitment to a long overdue Mental Health exploration is due to the very real inconvenience, specifically those of us that live in the city. For some of us driving for a 50-60 minute therapy session can be a two to three-hour endeavor depending on traffic, what time of day, and other factors. So coming to your home, or office not only save you valuable time, but more importantly will help you remain committed to the growth and expansion of your psychological and emotional self. Keep in mind, there is no greater gift that one can give to one’s self then the gift of compassion!

Privacy is important to all of us. In-home counseling ensures the ultimate sense of anonymity. There is no better place which provides us with the privacy, and sense of safety that we desire then in our own home. HIPAA compliant laws and standards are yours to be respected, and ours to honor.

As mentioned above, we provide In-home counseling services for individuals, couples and families. As human beings it is natural when we are out of our home environment, specifically when we are opening are psychological and emotional self up while engaging in therapy in a clinical setting such as a therapist office that our subconscious mind will automatically create self-preserving strategies. In these strategies which the mind creates to protect itself It has a tendency to put up psychological barriers and defences that interfere with the client from experiencing the genuine psychological and emotional experience in those moments.

At the same time it is clinically important to identify these psychological barriers and defenses which our mind unconsciously creates. Let’s please keep in mind, we cannot change, heal, or transform psychological barriers or defenses without first identifying, and understanding their purpose. Which most often is going to take us back to our childhood, due to the fact that in early childhood for self-preservation our mind creates these barriers/ defenses as away to protect itself from any perceived threats. If we take this one step further some of us had real life experience as a child, and this is where we can thank the subconscious aspect of our mind for creating these defenses which at the time turned into a form of psychological protection. Throughout childhood for the most part, these barriers and defenses served us well by protecting us from extreme psychological and emotional pain. Once we arrive into adolescence and beyond those same defense mechanisms no longer serve our psychological and emotional best interest. They begin to have a subtle, but profound impact in our day-to-day living, relationships, school or work life, family, social life Etc.

This is where for many of us, in-home counseling, as mentioned above, a place of comfort and security for you or a loved one offers one of its intended benefits. Aside from convenience and privacy, for many its greatest benefit would be the ability to work on whatever challenges and problems which you are currently facing, but also being in a familiar and psychologically safe place we can (gently) identify these barriers and defenses, due to the fact that we are not attempting to explore aspects of our psychological and emotional self, and at the same time (feeling overly vulnerable). In-home counseling can remove the feeling or sense of being overly vulnerable!
